Students living within our school boundaries are guaranteed acceptance.
Those students living outside our school boundaries may complete a student registration passport (Edmonton Public Schools students) or an application form (schools other than Edmonton Public Schools).
Passports for Edmonton Public Schools students will be available from their current school during the first week of April. Application forms can be picked up from our office.

Programs and Organizations
Vernon Barford School is organized on a two day, six periods per day schedule. The school presently has eighteen regular classes and seven challenge classes for grades seven to nine, as well as programming for English language learners and literacy students.
Complementary courses include French as a second language, Spanish language and culture, art, drama, instrumental music, clothing textile fashions, food studies, construction and career explorations. Special needs students are integrated into regular programming where appropriate.
School Philosophy
-
We believe that all students can learn at high levels and it is our moral responsibility to ensure that they do.
-
We recognize and build upon individual differences, treating each other with respect and dignity.
-
We are a people-centered, caring school, fostering positive feelings of self-worth in others.
-
We believe that individuals grow to potential when challenged.
-
We believe that education involves growth and development of the whole person.
Scent-Free Environment
There are a few of our students who have serious allergic reactions to scented perfumes and hair sprays. We are asking, for the safety of these individuals, that students, staff and parents avoid the use of such items when in school. As well, the odour associated with the popping of popcorn causes difficulty for some of our students. Please do not send popcorn to school unless it has been pre-popped. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
Transit Passes
Parents of students who have purchased Edmonton transit passes can claim a non-refundable tax credit on their income tax returns. Receipts will be posted on SchoolZone. Parents are advised that they need to retain the transit passes together with the receipts provided. The credit applies only to the purchase of public transit passes.
